Food Dudes

We participated in the ‘food dudes programme’ the year before last. It is an award winning programme to introduce children to various fruits and vegetables and encourage healthy eating.

We completed a survey with all children in the school regarding involvement with their local clubs.

Football with Tony


We started our 10@10 on January 22nd at 10am on RTÉjr. Every Monday to Friday Gráinne Bleasdale and Micheál Ó Ciaraidh got active while having fun for 10 minutes.They showed us how a little exercise every day can make a big difference! They also showed us the importance of a warm up and cool down routine.


We have an active facebook page that we update parents on a weekly basis on what happens in our school.


Thanks to all the students for collecting the milk sleeves, as part of SuperValu’s (Dunmanway) 10th year of sponsorship of West Cork Schoolboys league. We have received 4 footballs this week to add to our p.e. equipment.

We have started n a five week block of indoor rowing sessions from the 2nd of April in the National Rowing Centre, Farran as part of the GGGR programme. We are really enjoying this as this is an entirely new sporting venture for us.

Sciath na Scol

We won the ‘Sciath na Scol’ final in our category last June 2018 and are looking forward to our first game on May 2nd 2019.

Splash and Dash- We have registered two teams of 5th and 6th classes to take part in ‘Splash and Dash’ (Cork Sports Partnership and triathlon Ireland) as it is a fun activity that the children have enjoyed in previous years’.

We have registered to take part in the ‘Swim a mile’ relay challenge, in association with the active school programme.





Orienteering– We have completed several day with Sean Cotter (orienteering Ireland) and have organised another day in Gougane Barra on the 8th May.


Spar soccer 5 a side-We  participated in a Spar FAI soccer blitz in Clonakilty at the end of March. We  entered two mixed teams and had a great day.

Cork City Sports-We will participate as usual in the Cork City Sports this year on May 30th.

Newsletter- Two newsletters are sent out to parents each year. A copy of these available to view in our ASF  folder.


Aldi Rugby Stickers

Congratulations to all children who collected tokens from our Aldi stores. We were delighted to be able to fill two posters. We are now entered into a draw to win various prizes.Every school that entered got an Aldi rugby kit bag, 4 rugby balls, a water bottle holder and water bottles.

‘The  Echo’  paper visit

On the 10th of April a photographer visited the school to write an article on our school.He has added some photos of our active areas and the children at various activities.These will feature in an article on ‘The Echo’ on May 2nd.
