We had some very enjoyable Christmas celebrations in Kilnadur this year with everything from our annual craft making, the annual Christmas Play and this year for the first time our in-house Christmas dinner, along with plenty Christmas art, music and merriment. The Christmas spirit also continued to shine brightly amongst our school community with the generous donations for our Christmas Shoebox collection and Carepacks for nursing home residents.
It all began with our Christmas Craft Day where the pupils in the Senior Room made Christmas Wreaths and the pupils in the Junior Room made their Christmas Candle Centrepieces. We continued to practice for our Christmas play until the performance in Johnstown Church on 19th December. It was our first time returning to the beautiful setting of our local church in a number of years and the setting was perfect for our West Cork take on the traditional Nativity story. In a new venture this year our 6th Class pupils prepared, cooked and served a full Christmas dinner to the rest of the pupils and staff in the school. Empty plates and smiles all around told the true story of the day and I think it went without saying on that day that this will certainly be a tradition we will hope to continue well into the future! The photos below will tell you all there is to know about how much the pupils enjoyed themselves! Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you all!
