This years Active Schools week began on Tuesday 6th June with the Senior Room going on their school tour to Oysterhaven Adventure Centre. Everyone was certainly kept active with a jungle adventure course and plenty water activities. Back at school the Junior Room took part in some dance workshops and enjoyed the outdoor weather by putting together routines in the pitch.
On Wednesday we went on our annual Tour de Kilmichael which is a 10km cycle around the wider Kilnadur area. As well as practicing our cycling and road safety skills we managed to squeeze in some Local History by visiting the temporary burial site of three of the volunteers who fought at the Kilmichael Ambush over 100 years ago.
On Thursday all roads led to Clonakilty GAA where we played our Sciath na Scol final against Rusnacahara NS. Unfortunately we came out on the wrong side of the result on the day but our team still did us proud and the many supporters there on the day got a great game of football with the result never certain. It was a great feat to amke the final and next year we will go again!
Finally on Friday we had our Sports Day in Dunmanway Rugby Club. As well as other activities Tadg Sheehan called to do our final session of football training and Mary Kelleher did a Dance and Gymnastics workshop which all pupils greatly enjoyed. Some well deserved ice creams at the end of the day cooled everyone down and brought a great and active week to an end!
