Active Flag

The P.E. curriculum provides children with learning opportunities through the medium of movement and contributes to their overall development by helping them to lead full active and healthy lives. There are six strands in the P.E. curriculum-

  • Athletics
  • Dance
  • Gymnastics
  • Games
  • Outdoor and adventure activities
  • Aquatics

The Active School Flag is awarded to schools that strive to achieve a physically educated and physically active school community.

St Enda’s N.S. was awarded our first Active School Flag in 2014. We completed a renewal in 2018 and we have just completed another renewal this year (2022/23). Our goal is that all members of the school community work together to promote the importance and benefits of physical activity as part of daily life. We as a school have to continue to promote our school as an active school and we will start another renewal in 2026.

Our Active School Committee has previously included pupils, parents and staff however this year we just have a committee of children and staff (following Covid 19). Hopefully on our next renewal we will be able to invite parents again to join us again. This committee helps us to achieve our Active Flag. They will lead the different initiatives that we will take part in as well as come up with some new, fun and exciting ways for us to stay active in our school community.
